Dominant groups

Analysis of household income levels for Italian speakers households in the City of Melton in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne shows that there was a similar proportion of Italian speakers in high income households (those earning $3,000 per week or more) and a lower proportion of low income households (those earning less than $800 per week).

Overall, 21.2% of Italian speakers were in households who earned a high income, and 16.0% were in low income households, compared with 21.3% and 26.9% respectively for Greater Melbourne.

The major differences between the incomes levels for Italian speakers in households in the City of Melton and Greater Melbourne were:

  • A larger percentage of people in households who earned $2,000 - $2,499 (13.8% compared to 10.3%)
  • A larger percentage of people in households who earned $2,500 - $2,999 (10.3% compared to 7.2%)
