Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Hillside in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,010 males or 22.2%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (495 males or 10.9%)
  • Manufacturing (461 males or 10.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 1,966 males in total or 43.1% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Melton East employed 17.9% in Construction; 12.2% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing; and 10.1% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Hillside and Melton East were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (22.2% compared to 17.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (10.9% compared to 12.2%)
