Analysis of the household/family types of people aged 55 to 64 years in the City of Melton in 2021 compared to Greater Melbourne, shows that there was a higher proportion of people aged 55 to 64 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 41.1% of people aged 55 to 64 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 12.1% were in one-parent families, compared with 38.3% and 10.8% respectively for Greater Melbourne.
There was a lower proportion of people aged 55 to 64 years in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of people aged 55 to 64 years in lone person households was 11.3% compared to 14.4% in Greater Melbourne while the proportion of couples without children was 28.9% compared to 30.1% in Greater Melbourne.
