Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in North Precinct in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,430 people or 12.9%)
  • Retail Trade (1,104 people or 10.0%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (973 people or 8.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,507 people in total or 31.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Maribyrnong employed 12.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.7% in Retail Trade; and 10.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of North Precinct and the City of Maribyrnong were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in retail trade (10.0% compared to 8.7%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (8.8% compared to 10.7%)
