Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in West Footscray in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (839 people or 13.1%)
  • Education and Training (674 people or 10.5%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (668 people or 10.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,181 people in total or 34.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Maribyrnong employed 12.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 9.3% in Education and Training; and 10.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of West Footscray and the City of Maribyrnong were:
