Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Central Precinct in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,258 people or 12.9%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (1,081 people or 11.1%)
  • Education and Training (992 people or 10.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,331 people in total or 34.1% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Maribyrnong employed 12.5% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 10.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 9.3% in Education and Training.

The major difference between the jobs held by the population of Central Precinct and the City of Maribyrnong was:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in public administration and safety (8.6% compared to 7.5%)
