More Division 12 residents worked in health care and social assistance than any other industry in 2021.

Division 12's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.

When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Division 12 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,433 people or 13.7%)
  • Construction (1,285 people or 12.3%)
  • Manufacturing (1,095 people or 10.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,813 people in total or 36.4% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Logan City employed 13.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.2% in Construction; and 9.1% in Manufacturing.

The major difference between the jobs held by the population of Division 12 and Logan City was:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (10.5% compared to 9.1%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Division 12 increased by 589 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Division 12 were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+286 persons)
  • Manufacturing (-87 persons)
  • Education and Training (+84 persons)
  • Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services (+70 persons)
