More Division 4 residents worked in construction than any other industry in 2021.

Division 4's industry statistics identify the industry sectors in which the residents work (which may be within the residing area or elsewhere). This will be influenced by the skill base and socio-economic status of the residents as well as the industries and employment opportunities present in the region.

When viewed in conjunction with Residents Place of Work data and Method of Travel to Work, industry sector statistics provide insights into the relationship between the economic and residential role of the area.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Division 4 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,817 people or 14.5%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,659 people or 13.3%)
  • Retail Trade (1,260 people or 10.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 4,736 people in total or 37.8% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Logan City employed 12.2% in Construction; 13.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 10.1% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Division 4 and Logan City were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (14.5% compared to 12.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (6.1% compared to 7.2%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Division 4 increased by 3,512 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Division 4 were for those employed in:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+628 persons)
  • Construction (+462 persons)
  • Retail Trade (+324 persons)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (+267 persons)
