Please note that the ABS definition of "Rented" in 2021 changed to exclude "Occupied Rent Free", which is now included under "Other tenure type". Please take care when comparing the "Rented" and "Other" categories between 2016 and 2021; most overseas-born communities show some increase in the "Other" category due to the definitional change. This represents a very small proportion of the population (generally 1-2%) and has minimal effect on the overall view of tenure types in overseas-born populations.

Analysis of the housing tenure of people born overseas in Frankston City in 2021 compared to the total population in Frankston City shows that there was a larger proportion of people born overseas in households who owned their dwelling; a smaller proportion purchasing their dwelling; and a similar proportion who were renters.
Overall, 28.4% of people born overseas were in households who owned their dwelling; 42.9% were purchasing, and 25.9% were renting, compared with 21.9%, 46.8% and 25.5% respectively for the total population in Frankston City.
