Location and boundaries

Sandhurst is bounded by Thompsons Road in the north, Taylors Road in the east, Wedge Road in the south, and Malua Circuit, Gailiee Drive, Sandarra Boulevard and McCormicks Road in the west.

Settlement history

Settlement of the area dates from the mid 1800s, with land used mainly for farming and grazing. Population was minimal until after 2001. Rapid growth took place from 2002 as a residential and golf community was developed. The population grew to over 800 in 2006, and then increased even more rapidly, to over 3,000 in 2011, as large numbers of new dwellings were added to the area.

Land use

Sandhurst is a new residential area, with some development continuing.

Major features

A major feature of the area is Sandhurst Club (including the North and Champions Golf Courses).
