Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Rural North in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (389 people or 22.0%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (241 people or 13.6%)
  • Manufacturing (148 people or 8.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 778 people in total or 43.9% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Colac Otway Shire employed 11.4% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 13.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 14.2% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Rural North and Colac Otway Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (22.0% compared to 11.4%)
