Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Casey in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (25,775 people or 14.9%)
  • Construction (19,983 people or 11.5%)
  • Manufacturing (18,861 people or 10.9%)

In combination, these three industries employed 64,619 people in total or 37.2% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, the City of Greater Dandenong employed 12.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 8.4% in Construction; and 14.7% in Manufacturing.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Casey and the City of Greater Dandenong were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (11.5% compared to 8.4%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (14.9% compared to 12.6%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed in education and training (6.7% compared to 5.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed in manufacturing (10.9% compared to 14.7%)
