Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Berwick in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (2,961 females or 24.0%)
  • Education and Training (1,763 females or 14.3%)
  • Retail Trade (1,413 females or 11.5%)

In combination, these three industries employed 6,137 females in total or 49.8% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Mitchell Shire employed 22.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.7% in Education and Training; and 10.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Berwick and Mitchell Shire were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (6.7% compared to 4.3%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (24.0% compared to 22.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in public administration and safety (5.1% compared to 8.3%)
