Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in City of Canning in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (5,320 females or 23.8%)
  • Education and Training (2,971 females or 13.3%)
  • Retail Trade (2,283 females or 10.2%)

In combination, these three industries employed 10,574 females in total or 47.3% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Greater Perth employed 23.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.6% in Education and Training; and 10.7% in Retail Trade.

The major difference between the jobs held by the female population of the City of Canning and Greater Perth was:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in accommodation and food services (9.2% compared to 7.4%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in City of Canning increased by 2,817 between 2011 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2011 and 2021 in the City of Canning were for those employed in:
