Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Canning in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Construction (2,610 males or 10.2%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (2,376 males or 9.3%)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (2,298 males or 9.0%)
In combination, these three industries employed 7,284 males in total or 28.4% of the total employed male resident population.
In comparison, Riverton employed 11.2% in Construction; 11.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 6.4% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing.
The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Canning and Riverton were:
- A larger percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (9.0% compared to 6.4%)
- A larger percentage of males employed in administrative and support services (3.4% compared to 1.4%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (9.3% compared to 11.9%)
- A smaller percentage of males employed in education and training (5.0% compared to 6.6%)

- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+633 males)
- Accommodation and Food Services (+584 males)
