Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Ferndale in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (136 males or 12.9%)
  • Mining (93 males or 8.8%)
  • Retail Trade (84 males or 8.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 313 males in total or 29.7% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Queens Park - Welshpool employed 8.7% in Construction; 5.4% in Mining; and 7.9% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Ferndale and Queens Park - Welshpool were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (12.9% compared to 8.7%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in education and training (5.9% compared to 2.2%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in transport, postal and warehousing (7.9% compared to 13.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (5.8% compared to 10.4%)
