Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Wilson in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (480 people or 14.4%)
- Education and Training (335 people or 10.1%)
- Accommodation and Food Services (298 people or 8.9%)
In combination, these three industries employed 1,113 people in total or 33.4% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, East Cannington employed 14.6% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 4.8% in Education and Training; and 10.3% in Accommodation and Food Services.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Wilson and East Cannington were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in education and training (10.1% compared to 4.8%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (8.1% compared to 6.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (5.6% compared to 8.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in retail trade (7.8% compared to 10.1%)

The number of employed people in Wilson increased by 481 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the jobs held by the resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Wilson were for those employed in:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+133 persons)
- Mining (+77 persons)
- Transport, Postal and Warehousing (+72 persons)
