Dominant groups

Analysis of the female five year age groups of the City of Canning in 2021 compared to the City of Gosnells shows that there was a lower proportion of females in the younger age groups (under 15) and a higher proportion of females in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 17.6% of the female population was aged between 0 and 15, and 15.8% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 20.4% and 14.6% respectively for the City of Gosnells.

The major differences between the female age structure of the City of Canning and the City of Gosnells were:

  • A larger percentage of females aged 20 to 24 (7.5% compared to 6.4%)
