Dominant groups

Analysis of the male five year age groups of the City of Canning in 2021 compared to Rossmoyne shows that there was a lower proportion of males in the younger age groups (under 15) as well as a lower proportion of males in the older age groups (65+).

Overall, 18.7% of the male population was aged between 0 and 15, and 13.4% were aged 65 years and over, compared with 19.6% and 25.5% respectively for Rossmoyne.

The major differences between the male age structure of the City of Canning and Rossmoyne were:

  • A larger percentage of males aged 25 to 29 (8.6% compared to 2.8%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 30 to 34 (7.7% compared to 1.9%)
  • A larger percentage of males aged 35 to 39 (7.3% compared to 3.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of males aged 85 and over (1.3% compared to 5.6%)

Emerging groups

From 2016 to 2021, City of Canning's male population increased by 2,717 people (6.0%). This represents an average annual population change of 1.17% per year over the period.

The largest changes in male age structure in this area between 2016 and 2021 were in the age groups:
