There were more female professionals in Hawthorn in 2021 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Hawthorn in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (2,953 females or 43.9%)
  • Managers (1,017 females or 15.1%)
  • Clerical and Administrative Workers (1,014 females or 15.1%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 4,984 females in total or 74.2% of the employed female resident population.

In comparison, Studley Ward employed 42.5% in Professionals; 16.8% in Managers; and 15.6% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Hawthorn and Studley Ward were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed as Professionals (43.9% compared to 42.5%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (10.6% compared to 9.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed as Managers (15.1% compared to 16.8%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed females in Hawthorn increased by 265 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of female residents between 2016 and 2021 in Hawthorn were for those employed as:
