Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Kew in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (1,508 females or 24.2%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (788 females or 12.7%)
- Education and Training (770 females or 12.4%)
In combination, these three industries employed 3,066 females in total or 49.3% of the total employed female resident population.
In comparison, Canterbury employed 22.7% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.1% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 14.4% in Education and Training.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Kew and Canterbury were:
- A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (24.2% compared to 22.7%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed in education and training (12.4% compared to 14.4%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed in financial and insurance services (5.2% compared to 6.3%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed in retail trade (9.5% compared to 10.6%)
Emerging groups
The number of employed females in Kew increased by 286 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the jobs held by the female resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Kew were for those employed in:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (+191 females)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (+86 females)
