Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Kew in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,508 females or 24.2%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (788 females or 12.7%)
  • Education and Training (770 females or 12.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,066 females in total or 49.3% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Hawthorn East employed 19.3% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 15.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 13.9% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Kew and Hawthorn East were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (24.2% compared to 19.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (12.7% compared to 15.7%)
