Dominant groups
Analysis of male individual income levels in Kew in 2021 compared to Hawthorn East shows that there was a lower proportion of males earning a high income (those earning $2,000 per week or more) and a higher proportion of low income males (those earning less than $500 per week).
Overall, 32.5% of the male population earned a high income, and 24.6% earned a low income, compared with 33.6% and 20.4% respectively for Hawthorn East.
The major differences between Kew's male individual incomes and Hawthorn East's male individual incomes were:
- A larger percentage of males who earned Negative Income/ Nil income (9.8% compared to 7.3%)
- A larger percentage of males who earned $3,500 or more (17.6% compared to 16.2%)
- A smaller percentage of males who earned $1,500 - $1,749 (5.8% compared to 7.6%)
- A smaller percentage of males who earned $2,000 - $2,999 (10.8% compared to 12.4%)
