Dominant groups
Analysis of the need for assistance of people in the City of Boroondara compared to Canterbury shows that there was a lower proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.
Overall, 3.1% of the population reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 5.0% for Canterbury.
The major differences in the age groups reporting a need for assistance in Glen Iris and Canterbury were:
- A larger percentage of persons aged 5 to 9 (2.4% compared to 0.8%)
- A larger percentage of persons aged 0 to 4 (1.2% compared to 0.0%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 85 and over (44.9% compared to 56.1%)
- A smaller percentage of persons aged 80 to 84 (19.0% compared to 25.6%)
