An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Douglas (S) in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Accommodation and Food Services (1,354 people or 23.3%)
- Retail Trade (548 people or 9.4%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (508 people or 8.7%)
In combination, these three industries employed 2,410 people in total or 41.5% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, FNQROC region employed 9.4% in Accommodation and Food Services; 9.3% in Retail Trade; and 15.9% in Health Care and Social Assistance.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Douglas (S) and FNQROC region were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in accommodation and food services (23.3% compared to 9.4%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in administrative and support services (6.6% compared to 3.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (8.7% compared to 15.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (3.5% compared to 6.5%)
