When viewed with other indicators, such as Educational Qualifications and Individual Income, Occupation is a key measure for evaluating Planning area 5's socio-economic status and skill base.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Planning area 5 in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Professionals (967 females or 22.5%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (845 females or 19.7%)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (793 females or 18.5%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 2,605 females in total or 60.7% of the employed female resident population.
In comparison, Kiama Municipality employed 34.1% in Professionals; 16.8% in Community and Personal Service Workers; and 18.3% in Clerical and Administrative Workers.
The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Planning area 5 and Kiama Municipality were:
- A larger percentage of females employed as Sales Workers (13.8% compared to 8.1%)
- A larger percentage of females employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (19.7% compared to 16.8%)
- A larger percentage of females employed as Labourers (7.3% compared to 4.5%)
- A smaller percentage of females employed as Professionals (22.5% compared to 34.1%)

The number of employed females in Planning area 5 increased by 849 between 2016 and 2021.
The largest changes in the occupations of female residents between 2016 and 2021 in Planning area 5 were for those employed as:
- Professionals (+282 females)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (+177 females)
- Managers (+171 females)
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (+122 females)
