There were more professionals in Planning area 2 in 2021 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Planning area 2 in 2021 shows the three most popular occupations were:

  • Professionals (577 people or 20.6%)
  • Technicians and Trades Workers (443 people or 15.8%)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (426 people or 15.2%)

In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,446 people in total or 51.7% of the employed resident population.

In comparison, Coastal Mid employed 18.3% in Professionals; 17.8% in Technicians and Trades Workers; and 13.3% in Community and Personal Service Workers.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Planning area 2 and Coastal Mid were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Sales Workers (8.3% compared to 5.9%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Professionals (20.6% compared to 18.3%)
  • A larger percentage of persons employed as Community and Personal Service Workers (15.2% compared to 13.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons employed as Technicians and Trades Workers (15.8% compared to 17.8%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed people in Planning area 2 increased by 378 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the occupations of residents between 2016 and 2021 in Planning area 2 were for those employed as:

  • Professionals (+153 persons)
  • Managers (+118 persons)
  • Community and Personal Service Workers (+88 persons)
