Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Shoalhaven City in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (5,394 females or 25.9%)
  • Retail Trade (2,727 females or 13.1%)
  • Education and Training (2,646 females or 12.7%)

In combination, these three industries employed 10,767 females in total or 51.7% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Regional NSW employed 26.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 11.3% in Retail Trade; and 13.9% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Shoalhaven City and Regional NSW were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in accommodation and food services (10.7% compared to 8.7%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in retail trade (13.1% compared to 11.3%)
