Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Planning area 5 in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (1,227 people or 14.3%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,125 people or 13.1%)
  • Retail Trade (1,062 people or 12.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 3,414 people in total or 39.7% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Bega Valley Council area employed 10.2% in Construction; 16.0% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 10.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Planning area 5 and Bega Valley Council area were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in construction (14.3% compared to 10.2%)
