Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Coastal South in 2021 compared to Planning area 2 shows that there was a higher proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 20.1% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 6.6% were one-parent families, compared with 18.1% and 9.5% respectively for Planning area 2.

There were a lower proportion of lone person households and a similar proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 23.2% compared to 26.9% in Planning area 2 while the proportion of couples without children was 33.5% compared to 33.9% in Planning area 2.
