Dominant groups

Analysis of the household/family types in Westmead in 2021 compared to the City of Parramatta shows that there was a lower proportion of couple families with child(ren) as well as a lower proportion of one-parent families. Overall, 33.5% of total families were couple families with child(ren), and 5.2% were one-parent families, compared with 35.5% and 9.0% respectively for the City of Parramatta.

There were a higher proportion of lone person households and a lower proportion of couples without children. Overall, the proportion of lone person households was 24.3% compared to 21.5% in the City of Parramatta while the proportion of couples without children was 22.5% compared to 23.4% in the City of Parramatta.
