Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Essendon in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (1,153 females or 19.4%)
  • Education and Training (816 females or 13.7%)
  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (616 females or 10.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 2,585 females in total or 43.4% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Essendon North employed 21.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.2% in Education and Training; and 8.7% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Essendon and Essendon North were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (10.3% compared to 8.7%)
