There were more clerical and administrative workers in Harkness in 2016 than any other occupation.

Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Harkness in 2016 shows the three most popular occupations were:
- Clerical and Administrative Workers (634 people or 16.2%)
- Technicians and Trades Workers (632 people or 16.2%)
- Community and Personal Service Workers (492 people or 12.6%)
In combination these three occupations accounted for 1,758 people in total or 45.0% of the employed resident population.
