Dominant groups

Analysis of the need for assistance of people born overseas in the G21 Region compared to the total population in the G21 Region shows that there was a higher proportion of people who reported needing assistance with core activities.

Overall, 8.0% of the population born overseas reported needing assistance with core activities, compared with 6.2% for the total population in the G21 Region.

The major differences in the age groups of the population born overseas reporting a need for assistance in G21 Region and the total population in the G21 Region were:

  • A larger percentage of persons aged 65 years and over (79.1% compared to 53.0%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 18-64 years (18.9% compared to 32.3%)
  • A smaller percentage of persons aged 0-17 years (2.0% compared to 14.6%)

Emerging groups

The major differences in the age groups of the population born overseas reporting a need for assistance between 2016 and 2021 in G21 Region were in the age groups:

  • 65 years and over (+667 persons)
  • 18-64 years (+95 persons)
