Dominant groups
In 2021, there were 144,623 separate houses in the area, 18,729 medium density dwellings, and 1,227 high density dwellings.
Analysis of the types of dwellings in G21 Region in 2021 shows that 87.2% of all dwellings were separate houses; 11.3% were medium density dwellings, and 0.7% were in high density dwellings, compared with 88.9%, 9.4%, and 0.3% in the Regional VIC respectively.
In 2021, a total of 85.7% of the dwellings in G21 Region were occupied on Census night, compared to 86.5% in Regional VIC. The proportion of unoccupied dwellings was 14.1%, which is larger compared to that found in Regional VIC (13.2%).
