Dominant groups
Analysis of the qualifications of the population needing assistance in the G21 Region in 2021 compared to Regional VIC shows that there was a higher proportion of people holding formal qualifications (Bachelor or higher degree; Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or Vocational qualifications), and a lower proportion of people with no formal qualifications.
Overall, 31.7% of the population needing assistance aged 15 years or more held educational qualifications, and 59.2% had no qualifications, compared with 29.9% and 60.6% respectively for Regional VIC.
The major differences between qualifications held by the population needing assistance in G21 Region and Regional VIC were:
- A larger percentage of people with Bachelor or Higher degrees (8.5% compared to 6.9%)
- A smaller percentage of people with No qualifications (59.2% compared to 60.6%)
Emerging groups
The largest changes in the qualifications of the population needing assistance in G21 Region between 2016 and 2021 were in those with:
- No qualifications (+1,703 persons)
- Vocational qualifications (+831 persons)
- Bachelor or Higher degrees (+698 persons)
- Advanced Diploma or Diplomas (+453 persons)
