Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Westcourt in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (201 females or 25.9%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (112 females or 14.5%)
  • Retail Trade (78 females or 10.1%)

In combination, these three industries employed 391 females in total or 50.5% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Cairns North employed 31.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 17.5% in Accommodation and Food Services; and 10.0% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Westcourt and Cairns North were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in administrative and support services (6.3% compared to 3.7%)
