Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Edmonton in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (518 males or 19.8%)
  • Retail Trade (232 males or 8.9%)
  • Public Administration and Safety (226 males or 8.6%)

In combination, these three industries employed 976 males in total or 37.3% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Redlynch - Lamb Range employed 13.9% in Construction; 8.4% in Retail Trade; and 10.9% in Public Administration and Safety.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Edmonton and Redlynch - Lamb Range were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in construction (19.8% compared to 13.9%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in professional, scientific and technical services (2.6% compared to 5.8%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in education and training (3.4% compared to 6.1%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (5.9% compared to 8.5%)

Emerging groups

The number of employed males in Edmonton increased by 223 between 2016 and 2021.

The largest changes in the jobs held by the male resident population between 2016 and 2021 in Edmonton were for those employed in:

  • Construction (+90 males)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (+60 males)
