Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Whalan in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Retail Trade (198 people or 12.3%)
  • Transport, Postal and Warehousing (197 people or 12.2%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (194 people or 12.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 589 people in total or 36.6% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Blacktown City employed 10.0% in Retail Trade; 8.1% in Transport, Postal and Warehousing; and 14.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Whalan and Blacktown City were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (12.2% compared to 8.1%)
