Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in City of Greater Bendigo in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (8,509 females or 30.3%)
  • Education and Training (3,515 females or 12.5%)
  • Retail Trade (3,185 females or 11.3%)

In combination, these three industries employed 15,209 females in total or 54.2% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Regional VIC employed 26.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.1% in Education and Training; and 11.5% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of the City of Greater Bendigo and Regional VIC were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in health care and social assistance (30.3% compared to 26.8%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in financial and insurance services (3.7% compared to 2.2%)
