Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in City of Greater Bendigo in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Construction (4,657 males or 16.5%)
  • Manufacturing (3,421 males or 12.1%)
  • Retail Trade (2,356 males or 8.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 10,434 males in total or 37.0% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, Regional VIC employed 17.2% in Construction; 10.5% in Manufacturing; and 7.7% in Retail Trade.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of the City of Greater Bendigo and Regional VIC were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in mining (3.5% compared to 1.2%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (8.0% compared to 6.0%)
