Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the male resident population in Bendigo in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (193 males or 13.4%)
  • Construction (176 males or 12.2%)
  • Accommodation and Food Services (142 males or 9.8%)

In combination, these three industries employed 511 males in total or 35.4% of the total employed male resident population.

In comparison, East Bendigo employed 8.8% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 13.2% in Construction; and 6.6% in Accommodation and Food Services.

The major differences between the jobs held by the male population of Bendigo and East Bendigo were:

  • A larger percentage of males employed in health care and social assistance (13.4% compared to 8.8%)
  • A larger percentage of males employed in accommodation and food services (9.8% compared to 6.6%)
  • A smaller percentage of males employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (1.9% compared to 4.8%)
