Dominant groups
Analysis of the household/family types of children aged 0 to 4 years in the City of Greater Bendigo in 2021 compared to the total population in the City of Greater Bendigo, shows that there was a higher proportion of children aged 0 to 4 years in couple families with child(ren) as well as a higher proportion in one-parent families. Overall, 78.7% of children aged 0 to 4 years were in couple families with child(ren), and 16.0% were in one-parent families, compared with 43.3% and 13.8% respectively for the total population in the City of Greater Bendigo.
There was a lower proportion of children aged 0 to 4 years in lone person households and a lower proportion in couples without children. Overall, the proportion of children aged 0 to 4 years in lone person households was 0.4% compared to 12.0% in the total population in the City of Greater Bendigo while the proportion of couples without children was 0.3% compared to 22.3% in the total population in the City of Greater Bendigo.
