Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the female resident population in Rural South in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Health Care and Social Assistance (128 females or 21.4%)
  • Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (93 females or 15.6%)
  • Education and Training (68 females or 11.4%)

In combination, these three industries employed 289 females in total or 48.4% of the total employed female resident population.

In comparison, Benalla Rural City employed 26.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 6.9% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; and 12.2% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the female population of Rural South and Benalla Rural City were:

  • A larger percentage of females employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (15.6% compared to 6.9%)
  • A larger percentage of females employed in professional, scientific and technical services (6.2% compared to 4.2%)
