Dominant groups
An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Rural South in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing (259 people or 20.6%)
- Health Care and Social Assistance (145 people or 11.5%)
- Construction (124 people or 9.9%)
In combination, these three industries employed 528 people in total or 42.0% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, Benalla Rural City employed 9.7% in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing; 15.1% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 12.6% in Construction.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Rural South and Benalla Rural City were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in agriculture, forestry and fishing (20.6% compared to 9.7%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (5.3% compared to 3.6%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in health care and social assistance (11.5% compared to 15.1%)
