Analysis of the service age groups of SSROC region in 2021 compared to New South Wales shows that there was a lower proportion of people in the younger age groups (0 to 17 years) as well as a lower proportion of people in the older age groups (60+ years).
Overall, 18.5% of the population was aged between 0 and 17, and 20.2% were aged 60 years and over, compared with 21.7% and 23.5% respectively for New South Wales.
The major differences between the age structure of SSROC region and New South Wales were:
- A larger percentage of 'Young workforce' (18.8% compared to 14.1%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Seniors' (8.6% compared to 10.2%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Empty nesters and retirees' (9.4% compared to 11.0%)
- A smaller percentage of 'Primary schoolers' (7.3% compared to 8.7%)
