An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in Bayside Council area in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:
- Health Care and Social Assistance (10,389 people or 12.2%)
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (8,489 people or 10.0%)
- Retail Trade (7,971 people or 9.4%)
In combination, these three industries employed 26,849 people in total or 31.5% of the total employed resident population.
In comparison, SSROC region employed 12.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; 12.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; and 8.2% in Retail Trade.
The major differences between the jobs held by the population of Bayside Council area and SSROC region were:
- A larger percentage of persons employed in transport, postal and warehousing (7.5% compared to 4.9%)
- A larger percentage of persons employed in retail trade (9.4% compared to 8.2%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (10.0% compared to 12.9%)
- A smaller percentage of persons employed in education and training (7.4% compared to 8.7%)
