In 2021, there were 9,059 people who caught public transport to work (train, bus, tram or ferry) in Bayside Council area, compared with 32,218 who drove in private vehicles (car – as driver, car – as passenger, motorbike, or truck).
Analysis of the method of travel to work of the residents in Bayside Council area in 2021, compared to SSROC region, shows that 10.6% used public transport, while 36.6% used a private vehicle, compared with 7.4% and 30.1% respectively in SSROC region.
The major differences in persons between the method of travel to work of Bayside Council area and SSROC region were:
- A larger percentage of persons who travelled by car (as driver) (33.6% compared to 27.8%)
- A larger percentage of persons who travelled by train (8.5% compared to 5.5%)
- A smaller percentage of persons who worked at home (34.0% compared to 42.7%)
