Dominant groups
The size of the City of Ryde's non-English speaking labour force in 2021 was 35,651 persons, of which 9,395 were employed part-time and 20,407 were full time workers.
Analysis of the employment status (as a percentage of the labour force) of non-English speakers in the City of Ryde in 2021 compared to the total population in the City of Ryde shows that there was a lower proportion in employment, and a higher proportion unemployed. Overall, 93.9% of the non-English speaking labour force was employed, and 3.6% unemployed, compared with 94.9% and 2.9% respectively for the total population in the City of Ryde.
Analysis of the non-English speaking labour force participation rate of the population in the City of Ryde in 2021 shows that there was a higher proportion in the labour force (65.0%) compared with the total population in the City of Ryde (63.9%).
Emerging groups
Between 2016 and 2021, the number of non-English speaking population employed in the City of Ryde showed an increase of 5,381 people and the number unemployed showed an increase of 120 people. In the same period, the number of people in the labour force showed an increase of 5,063 people, or 16.6%.
