Dominant groups

An analysis of the jobs held by the resident population in City of Ryde in 2021 shows the three most popular industry sectors were:

  • Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (9,217 people or 14.1%)
  • Health Care and Social Assistance (8,540 people or 13.0%)
  • Education and Training (5,876 people or 9.0%)

In combination, these three industries employed 23,633 people in total or 36.0% of the total employed resident population.

In comparison, Greater Sydney employed 10.9% in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services; 13.4% in Health Care and Social Assistance; and 8.5% in Education and Training.

The major differences between the jobs held by the population of the City of Ryde and Greater Sydney were:

  • A larger percentage of persons employed in professional, scientific and technical services (14.1% compared to 10.9%)
